Jeffrey L. Kniffin, 50, of Wall Township, was arrested following an armed robbery at the Bank of America located at the intersection of Route 35 and 18th Avenue. Kniffin was charged with robbery while using a firearm, possession of hollow-point ammunition, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was processed and transported to Monmouth County Correctional Institution.
Patrolman Johan Moreno-Garcia arrested Leah A. McCarthy, 47, of Staten Island, following a motor vehicle stop on Route 34. McCarthy was charged with driving while intoxicated, endangering the welfare of a child, being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, driving while intoxicated with a minor in the car, hindering her own apprehension, and presenting a driver’s license which identified her as another. She was processed and released in accordance with John’s Law.

Patrolman Megan Alexander arrested Gabriella Barbara, 53, of Manasquan, following an investigation into a hit-and-run type motor vehicle accident on New Bedford Road. Barbara was charged with driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest, having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, refusing to submit breath samples, reckless driving, being an uninsured motorist, and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident. She was processed and released in accordance with John’s Law.

Patrolman T.J. Powers arrested Martha A. Diaz-Ivanez, 43, of Brick, for driving while intoxicated after a motor vehicle stop on Route 34. She was processed and released in accordance with John’s Law.
Patrolman Daniel Grothues arrested Kevin G. Loyal, 36, of East Orange, following a motor vehicle stop on Route 34. Loyal was found to have several warrants issued for his arrest out of several jurisdictions. He was processed and released with new court dates.

William A. Mimish, 31, of Belmar, was arrested by Patrolman John Kelly. The Wall Township Municipal Court issued a warrant for his arrest. He was processed and transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.
Following a suspicious vehicle investigation in the Garden State Parkway commuter parking on Belmar Blvd., Patrolman Shane Roland arrested Abdulkareem A. Oshodi, 28, of El Paso, Texas. Mr. Oshodi was found to be a fugitive from justice and had an arrest warrant issued for his arrest out of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, for eluding police. He was processed and transported to the Monmouth County Correction Institution, where he is awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania.
Patrolman Kevin Orender arrested Lacy G. Chapman, 36, of Wall Township, following a shoplifting investigation at Target on Route 35. He was processed and released on a summons.
Despite these charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all the trial rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution and New Jersey State Law.

Starting off on Thursday evening Wall PD and Wall EMS participated in the annual Trunk or Treat event at the Municipal Complex.
On Friday evening Wall EMS celebrated their 25th Anniversary of providing emergency medical services to Wall Township and surrounding towns.
Saturday morning started off with providing traffic control and security at the Old Mill School Fall Fun Run. All day Saturday we worked with Customs and Boarder Patrol at Town Hall to allow residents a convenient in person interview for Global Entry and TSA Pre Check. Detective Swenson and Sergeant Gallaudet assisted at the Hurricane Helene relief event held at South Wall Fire Rescue. Saturday night officers participated in a DWI checkpoint on Hwy 138 near New Bedford Rd.

These low relative humidity values are combined with west winds around 10 to 15 mph and temperatures in the low to mid 60s, and abundant sunshine. These conditions will support the spread of any fires that ignite, which could quickly become difficult to control.

FREEHOLD – A Wall Township man was arrested and criminally charged in connection with an armed robbery in the same town, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced on Thursday.
Jeffrey L. Kniffin, 50, was charged with one count of first-degree Armed Robbery, one count of Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and one count of fourth-degree Possession of Hollow Point Bullets.
On Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at approximately 3:24 p.m., officers from the Wall Township Police Department were dispatched to a Bank of America branch located on State Highway 35 for a reported robbery. Upon arrival, law enforcement officials learned that a man wearing a mask, glasses, ball cap, black hoodie and gloves had entered the bank, brandished a firearm and stole a large amount of cash, in excess of $5,000, prior to fleeing the scene.
An off-duty Wall Township police officer was driving in the vicinity of the bank when he learned of the robbery. As the officer proceeded towards the location, he observed a male matching the description of the suspect riding a bicycle. The officer followed the suspect, later identified as Kniffin, to the front of Kniffin’s residence on M Street, where he would ultimately be apprehended.
Kniffin was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI), where he is currently being held pending his first appearance in Monmouth County Superior Court.
The case is assigned to Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor Michael Luciano of the Major Crimes Bureau. Information regarding Kniffin’s legal representation was not immediately available.

The drug overdose epidemic in the State of New Jersey is a public health and public safety concern. Too many times unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands that then create dangerous and possible tragic situations.
On Saturday, October 26, 2024 the Wall Township Police Department will be participating in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) biannual “National Take Back Initiative” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This initiative allows people to dispose of their expired, unused or unwanted medications in a safe manner.
This program is anonymous and free of charge. Participants may dispose of their medications in its original container or by disposing it directly into the disposal bin. If a person is disposing of medication in their original container they are encouraged to remove all identifying information from the bottle. If disposing of a liquid, the liquid should remain in its original packaging with the seal tightly closed. Vapes and e-cigarettes can also be disposed of during this time ONLY when the batteries have been removed.
The only items not collected during this initiative are injectables, including EpiPens, and syringes. Illicit substances are also not part of this initiative.
Last year 599,897 pounds of expired, unused and unwanted medications were collected during the October “National Take Back Day.” The Wall Township Police Department’s drop box can be found in the department’s lobby at 2700 Allaire Rd. Busy weekend at Wall PD!!
