Wall Township Police Unveil World War II Memorial

On Sunday, November 11, 2018 Veterans Day, Police Officers from the Wall Township Police Department along with Wall Township PBA Local 234 dedicated and unveiled a World War II Memorial brass sculpture depicting New Jersey World War II Hero and longtime Wall Township resident, Harry J. Rockafeller after he was promoted to Major of the 4th Armored Division at Bastogne, Belgium in December of 1944.  His decorations include a Silver Star with 2 Oak leave clusters, Bronze Star with a “V” for valor, a Purple Heart and several other commendations. With a crowd of more than 500 residents and supporters from all over the country this statue was unveiled. Rocky stood tall and proud with a command presence that all could feel that moment the silver cloth was removed, while a United States Blackhawk Army helicopter flew over this memorial. This Memorial will now be a permanent reminder of the sacrifice, honor and bravery of all our World War II Veterans. It was their duty to serve and it is our duty to remember.
