Wall Police Awards Ceremony

On Wednesday, August 28, 2019, the Wall Township Police Department had its annual awards ceremony honoring Wall Township Police Department personnel that have “gone above and beyond” during the course of their duties. The awards were given out at the Wall Township Committee meeting.  Chief Brown thanked the officers for their demonstrated bravery, commitment and professionalism.  Chief Brown also expressed his gratitude to the Wall Township Committee and the residents for their unwavering continuing support of the Wall Township Police Department.

 

Below are the descriptions of the incidents in which awards and/or commendations were issued.

 

  1. Patrolman Shane Roland and Patrolman Emmett Idzahl and K-9 Daza received the Distinguished Service Award and K-9 Citation for their actions on March 2, 2018 for apprehending a subject with a loaded handgun.

 

  1. Sergeant Ed Lister, Patrolman Gary Fuller, Patrolman Jerry Baker, Patrolman Steve Swenson, Patrolman Devin Corso, Patrolman Jason Paulus and Patrolman Mike Tancredi received the Distinguished Service Award for their actions on May 12, 2018 with successfully apprehending an emotionally disturbed person who was driving erratically who was creating a hazardous risk to the public.

 

  1. Sergeant Vincent Mazzaccaro, Patrolman Emmett Idzahl, Patrolman Jerry Baker, Patrolman Shane Roland, Patrolman Steve Swenson, Patrolman Chris Mason and Patrolman David Smithman received a Distinguished Service Award for their actions on October 13, 2018 for successfully apprehending a woman with a loaded handgun.

 

  1. Dispatcher Kelly Moore, Patrolman Mike Cacciatore, Patrolman Thomas Gavaghan Patrolman Tyler Driscoll, Emergency Medical Technician Supervisor Lauber, Emergency Medical Technician McAllister and Emergency Medical Technician Bender received the Life Saving Award for their actions on March 9, 2018 in saving the life of a resident by performing CPR.

 

  1. Patrolman Steve Swenson, Patrolman David Smithman, Patrolman Josh Wheeler, Emergency Medical Technician Eric McLaughlin and Emergency Medical Technician Sara McNeil received the Life Saving Award for their actions on December 26, 2018 in saving the life of a resident by performing CPR.
  2. Patrolman Emmett Idzahl, Patrolman Karleigh Niedt, Patrolman Justin Hudson received the Life Saving Award for their actions on January 5, 2019 for saving the life of a resident from jumping off a bridge on Rt. 35.

 

  1. Patrolman Mark Daugherty and Patrolman Chris Roeck received the Life Saving Award for their actions on February 4, 2019 in saving the life of a resident by performing CPR and using the AED.

 

  1. Detective Mike Steitz and Detective Dan Mason received a Certificate of Commendation for their actions in January of 2018 for apprehending a multi-state car burglary suspect.

 

  1. Detective Anthony Lacher received a Certificate of Commendation for his actions on May 17, 2018 for apprehending a suspect that had dumped a deceased body on the side of the road.

 

  1. Patrolman Shane Roland and Patrolman Chris Mason received a Certificate of Commendation for their actions on August 28, 2018 with saving an infant from drowning.

 

  1. Patrolman John Spinapont received a Certificate of Commendation for his actions on October 22, 2018 in seizing 29 grams of powder cocaine, 15 grams of Crack Cocaine, 30 grams of marijuana and large quantities of drug paraphernalia following a motor vehicle stop.
