The Wall Township Police Department is announcing the retirement of K-9 Sable after 8 years of loyal service with the department as a patrol and explosive detection K-9. K-9 Sable is a female German Shepard who started her career with the Wall Township Police Department in April of 2011. She was teamed up with Sergeant Ian Hatch and they attended the New Jersey State Police K-9 Academy Scent Class and were certified as an explosive detection team along with becoming members of the Render Safe Program. They would later return to the New Jersey State Police K-9 Academy and graduate the Patrol Class in February of 2012.
The Wall Township Police Department commends K-9 Sable and Sgt. Hatch for their service to the department and most importantly their service to the community. Throughout her years of service, K-9 Sable was a key part in felony arrests and also aided in the safe planning of several highly attended community events, concerts and races. As members of the Render Safe program, Sergeant Hatch and K-9 Sable were tasked with providing services to such events as the Super Bowl at Giant Stadium in 2014. K-9 Sable especially loved to serve the community and participate in demonstrations for kids during community and school functions. She performed many demonstrations at schools, businesses and churches during her time with the department.
During her years of service, K-9 Sable received several awards and commendations for her outstanding service. The Wall Township Police Department appreciates the service, dedication and contribution that K-9 Sable and Sergeant Hatch have made during their time together as partners.
