Sean O’Halloran was appointed as the 9th Chief of Police for the Wall Township Police Department on September 28, 2022.
Chief O’Halloran has served with the Wall Township Police Department since 2000. He served as a patrolman and a detective until he was promoted to Sergeant in 2013. In 2016, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, and served as the Patrol Division Commander and then the Administrative Division Commander. He has been a member of the Special Response Team, Traffic Enforcement Unit, and field training officer.
He began his career as a special law enforcement officer and dispatcher with the Spring Lake Police Department. In 1999 he was hired as a Patrolman with Spring Lake Heights Police Department. Chief O’Halloran has received numerous community and department awards over his career.
As Chief of Police, he is responsible for a department comprised of 130 employees with an annual budget in excess of twelve million dollars. The department consist of the Police Officers, Emergency Medical Services, 911 Dispatch Center, and a Records Division.
Chief O’Halloran received his Bachelor of Science Degree and his Master’s Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He is a graduate of the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police Command and Leadership Academy. He also is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy, Session 282. Chief O’Halloran was also awarded “personal accreditation status” by NJSACOP as an “Accredited Command Executive”. The Chief is an active member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, and the Monmouth County Chiefs Association.
Chief O’Halloran is a life-long resident of Wall Township. He is married with three children.
