The Wall Township Police Department would like to warn the public about scams regarding the federal coronavirus relief package. We are receiving reports from people who are getting requests for personal or financial information to receive or expedite their relief payments from the federal government, people are being contacted by phone, text and email. These communications are fraudulent and one of the newest tactics employed by scammers to obtain money and personal information from victims. The public should know that they do not need to sign up to receive a federal relief check, if they qualify. The process is automatic, and no one from a government agency will contact anyone to confirm personal or banking information.
