New Jersey Safe Haven Act

The Wall Township Police Department would like to increase awareness about the New Jersey Safe Haven Infant Protection Act, also known as the Safe Haven Law.  Last year, Governor Phil Murphy signed legislation marking September as Safe Haven Awareness Month in New Jersey.

Under the Safe Haven Law, a parent or designee can safely, legally, and anonymously surrender an unharmed infant less than 30 days old at any hospital emergency room, police station, fire department, ambulance, first aid, and rescue squads in New Jersey that are staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

If you or someone you know is considering surrendering an infant, learn about your options.  For general information or publications related to the Safe Haven Infant Protection Act, visit www.njsafehaven.org.
