Senior Scams and Financial Crimes Presentation
The Wall Township Police Department conducted a presentation on senior scams and financial crimes targeting the senior citizen community for the Pride of Wall Seniors on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 in the community room at town hall. Wall Township Police Detective Mike Steitz was the presenter and spoke about different types of fraud like the IRS phone scam, international lotteries, banking emails (phishing) and more. He also spoke about tips for recognizing fraud, resources to use and law enforcement agencies to contact to prevent becoming a victim of a scam or financial fraud. If you would like more information on recognizing and avoiding scams then go to http://fightingfraud.nj.gov/ and download the “Anti-Fraud Toolkit”. The “Anti-Fraud Toolkit” was created to keep New Jersey’s senior citizens abreast of the latest frauds and scams targeting them.
