Traffic on Highway 35 in Wall Township Must Stop for School Bus Drop-off and Pick-up

The Wall Township Police Department recently received complaints about traffic failing to stop in the opposite direction during school bus drop-off and pick-up on Highway 35.

Traffic must stop in either direction on an undivided highway in New Jersey when a school bus is stopped with the red flashing lights on.  Traffic must stop at least 25 feet from the school bus in both directions.  Traffic must wait for all the children to exit the school bus and the school bus driver to turn off the red flashing lights before traffic can proceed.  Highway 35 in Wall Township is an undivided highway.

If you are found guilty of the violation of passing a school bus, NJSA 39:4-128.1, it is a five point ticket with a fine of no less than $100 for the first offense and the second offense a fine no less than $250.   Depending on the circumstances, this summons could include imprisonment, community service and suspension of license.

The Wall Township Police Department will be on Highway 35 enforcing this statue.
