The Township of Wall experienced a significant weather event yesterday evening into early this morning. Strong winds resulted in multiple calls for services, trees down and power outages throughout the township. Traffic hazards have been addressed, however, motorists should use enhanced caution due to inoperable traffic signals and traffic detours, specifically in the areas of State Highway 34 and Belmar Boulevard.
As a result of the weather, the Wall Township Police Department, Glendola Fire Department, and the Wall Township Building Department, responded to two (2) building collapses at 1717 State Highway 34. No injuries were sustained as a result of the collapses.
The Wall Township Police Department is working in coordination with the Fire Departments, Emergency Medical Services, Office of Emergency Management, Department of Public Works, Township Administrator and Elected Officials to provide the best service to residents, businesses and those visiting Wall Township. A constant line of communication is being maintained with the New Jersey State Department of Transportation, Monmouth County Roadway Department, Monmouth County Office of Emergency Management as well the public utility companies to include New Jersey Natural Gas and Jersey Central Power and Light.
